Frank Grimes

This will be our final post… for this version of the website.

Hey all! Derek here. Just wanted to touch base and let you know what is going on with the site, our comics and our lives.

So you may have noticed our output as of late has been shaky to say the least. First off, sorry about that. Both Brian and myself have undergone a lot of life changes over the past year, and are looking at some more in the year ahead. I’ve gone from having a job that allowed me the freedom to come home at 5 everyday and work on daily comics to having a job that doesn’t have a regular schedule. Because of that, the first thing to suffer was the daily comic. That being said, I did use my long hiatus to draw our next foreign language book. Once we get the lettering done and I draw a cover, Gomibako will be ready to premiere at S.P.A.C.E next year.

Brian’s life has undergone some changes over the past year as well. He moved back from California to be with the love of his life, as you can read about in his award nominated work Fear of Flying. Very soon the swinging bachelor who started this company over a decade ago will be a home-owning married man. Let’s all give it up for that.

As for the site, we are currently working on moving all the old comics over to our new wordpress site, which will have a bunch of new features. This is a time consuming task, so you won’t see a lot of new output from us until early next year, but once the site is up it will be a lot of fun. We’ll finally get to interact directly on the site via comments on each comic, which is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time.

We have also been working on putting together a weekly serialized comic that Brian and myself would take turns drawing. This is new terrain for us and we want to try to get it right, so this has also factored into the lack of new material and updates. Once we get it going on the new site, we really hope it will be something you’ll want to come back to each week.

We really would love to make this the thing we do for a living so there will be several ways to donate on the new site. We’re not asking you to fund our lifestyle, just maybe throw a few bucks at the site if you like what we do. Besides, if you paid to see any of the Transformers movies, you’ve help to fund Michael Bay’s lavish lifestyle. And if you didn’t and instead just pirated them, for shame.

Anyway, I’d like to thank you all for checking out the site and supporting our work. I’d also like to thank Brian, who really started this whole thing and without whom I may never have picked up a pencil again. Stay with us, the journey is just getting interesting.
