Hello all! You may or may not already know that Brian and I work as one half of a local free newspaper highlighting the works of comic creators and comic history in and around Central Ohio. The paper began last year after a successful Kickstarter campaign and has just recently released its second issue.

In an exciting bit of news, we found out we have been nominated for an Eisner Award in the category of Best Comics-Related Periodical/Journalism. The awards are to be presented at this years San Diego Comic Con and have been compared to the Academy Awards of the comic industry.

As you can imagine, we are very excited about this. And the best part is, you can help! If you like our work here, check out our work with the Columbus Scribbler. After doing that, if you feel so inclined and meet one of the following criteria, click on over to the Eisner Award’s voting page and vote for us.

The following working comics industry professionals are eligible to vote in the Eisner Awards:

  • Comic book/graphic novel/webcomic creators (writers, artists, cartoonists, pencillers, inkers, letterers, colorists)
  • All nominees in any category
  • Comic book/graphic novel publishers and editors
  • Comics historians and educators
  • Graphic novel librarians
  • Owners and managers of comic book specialty retail stores

We are so excited to be a part of such a vibrant comic-making community and to be able to help spread the words and work of all the talent within it. Our goal when starting the Scribbler was to help expose more people to the incredible art scene and diverse talent that live in our city. It would obviously mean so much to us if we were to win the award, but we also feel it would help spread the word about the community.

Thank you for your time and continued support.
