Thanks, Blick!
All joking aside, I would like to thank all the great art supply stores out there. I’ve found so many great tools and had so many great conversations with other artists at art stores. And that wraps up this year’s week of thanks!

This guy is a true legend. Check out his New Coloring Book for all ages!
Seriously, there were so many other examples I could have added to this comic about what makes Michael such a great guy but I was already running behind schedule. We are both very grateful to know him.
Like last year, Derek and I have decided to do a week of thanks. I decided to start this year off with a bang again and thank the often unsung heroes for all artists, the ones that are there in the background cheering you on, hoping you achieve your dream, and helping you move forward with it.
Thank you, Amy! You are the love of my life and I’m so happy to be able to call you my wife.
I feel like this tale is a tale shared by many in the Columbus comics scene. To wrap up our week of thanks, we’d like to give thanks to Jeff Smith. To put it simply, he’s done so much for comics, self-publishing, and Columbus. I personally don’t know where I’d be without his work and influence.
Thanks for everything, Jeff!
The Columbus comic making scene wouldn’t be what it is today without the help of Ken, and I know he’s just going to love my use of the term “scene” since he is such a scene kid.
The first few times I met Ken I thought his name was Nick, based on the name of his quarterly comic “Nix Comics”.
Ken is a hardworking guy and a great example of how you can make it as a comic creator in our town. He is at every local show and his books are on every local vendors shelves. Locally made comics and graphic novels wouldn’t have the presence that they have here in Columbus without the efforts of one Mr. Ken Eppstein. So once you’re done carving the turkey, why not give this turkey some of that cash you’re just going to blow on Black Friday “deals” and order one of his books. They are true labors of love.
Head on over to Nixcomics.com and check him out.
This week, Derek and I have decided to do a week of thanks and I decided to start it off with a bang and thank Gib at the Laughing Ogre. The Laughing Ogre holds a very special place in my heart, not only did I spend every Wednesday of my youth there receiving my comics education, but it was also the first comic shop to ever carry one of my books. I still remember going in one Wednesday and seeing my self-published comic on the new comic shelf in between some Marvel books, it was amazing! And it would have never been possible without the kindness of Gib. I feel like many people in our local scene have a similar tale. Gib and the Ogre have helped make Columbus the comic city it is. My only hope is that this comic can in some small way show you how grateful we are for all that you’ve done for us.
Thanks for everything, Gib!
Finally giving the man his proper dues.
During our first year of doing regular web comics, back when we called them “Daily Shots” and “Mixed Drink Wednesdays”, we took the last week in November to give thanks to a bunch of our friends and fellow artists. I was assigned to draw a different comic a day, one for each friend we were thanking. I am embarrassed by what I ended up doing for Bob originally, hence I wont link to it here. I hope this new comic more accurately conveys our sincere gratitude for all he does for us and the rest of the local artistic community.
Thanks, Bob, for giving us the chance to live our dream.
